ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 15.11 g, 1 h), 159/8. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos and long tendril on the bowl, and with the foreparts of four horses above the visor. Rev. Α-ΘΕ Owl standing facing on amphora; to left, monogram of MΠ; monogram of HP; in lower left and right fields, palm frond; all with olive wreath. Cf. Thompson 15 (differing monograms). Scratches and scattered porosity, otherwise, good fine.


These monograms that appear on the reverse of this tetradrachm are not included in Thompson. However, the two palm fronds with different monograms are included (Thompson 15).
